Outdoor Dining Sets

For anyone that is a little bit more adventurous or spontaneous, eating food and drinking outside is one of the joys of life. Many people only ever have this luxury when they go to a pub with a beer garden or to a café with an outdoor section with outdoor dining sets. I have, however, chosen to follow the trend that more and more people are taking on; having my outdoor dining sets to dine at in the evening.

There are literally thousands of outdoor dining sets to choose from, with a whole host of stores right now doing them and doing great deals on them (due to the season). If you live in America, you’re especially lucky, as many of the large retail chains have just extended their product range, and due to customer demand are stocking more dining sets than ever.

Part of the reason that these kinds of sets have become so popular is down to TV shows such as Entourage, where the characters Vinnie Chase and Eric Murphy are constantly seen dining outdoors. This show has been described a ‘Sex and the City for men’, and thus men like to follow the trends and fashions of the show.

There are many different types of outdoor dining sets that you can get, from wooden ones to plastic ones to metal ones. Many of the styles made from metal often look great (sometimes they look really old and rustic) but they are often uncomfortable to sit on (unless you use cushions) and sluggish to move due to their weight. Plastic dining sets don’t often look the nicest, as plastic can occasionally look cheap but they are by far the most comfortable, as the chairs are specially moulded to fit the average person’s shape and are usually quite flexible. In addition, they are light to carry so they can easily be moved around your garden/patio or put away somewhere. The downside to them is that they traditionally don’t last as long as the other types, as they are weaker and can fade in the sun.

Finally, wooden dining set (to me) look the nicest and are the best of both worlds between metal and plastic. I’ve seen some really nice designs in this type of material, and I always find a soothing brown colour to go well with that of healthy green grass. You can, however, now get types that blend both (such as chairs with a metal frame and wooden slatted seats), and these types are also highly recommended.

Whatever type you do get, it’s always best to first think about where they will be going, and if they will suit their surroundings. For example, will the colour of the patio slabs suit your outdoor dining sets’ colour? Will there be a clash? Outdoor dining sets are a great thing to have around the garden, as they make for a nice place to eat, relax and catch up with your family (providing you have a nice garden, of course).
